ACTS from Home
As schools closed and so many things in our world began to change back in March ACTS remained committed to staying connected to our families and filling whatever gaps are impacting them. All the way through May we distributed activity kits and snacks twice weekly as well as meals once a week. Now activity kits are available once a week. We also continue to make books and other learning materials available as much as we can. Thank you to Ms. Nancy, Ms. Connie, and Ms. Deb for the extra help to make these possible!
We are thankful that COVID could not stop our kids from experiencing a 4th year of Peace Camp. Activity packs at the end of June focused on the main themes of peace camp: inner peace, peace with people around us, and peace in the natural world around us. Kids received information and activities around peacemakers of the past and current day. They also received ideas towards taking actions at home and in their community and ways to process their emotions to calm their hearts and minds. We also equipped kids with seeds for beginning a garden and an earth tree in honor of earth week.
We are grateful for each person that stepped up to purchase food and supplies for the activity packs through our Amazon Wish List or other ways. Each person who made a contribution in any form helped us quickly alter our approach and respond to the changing needs of our families. A special thank you goes to Wonderfully Made by E who donated 10% of her July sales during to underwrite our Peace Camp activity packs.
Despite many hurdles in the past few months we are grateful for partners that made it possible for our kids to have fun, hands-on experiences while at home.
