Summer Adventures

As safety measures have allowed we’ve been able to reconnect with our kids through a number of small group experiences this summer. We’ve made the most of the beautiful weather by hiking, gardening, water games, and even learning about beekeeping. Ms Jaime gathered in the backyard at the ACTS house with a few interested kids to guide them through creating flower arrangements. In early July the kids decided to offer the arrangements they made to the community for pick up.

A few groups found it hard but rewarding to go hiking at Rosy Mounds and Saugatuck Dunes. One of the most unique opportunities we’ve been able to offer was thanks to Kylen and his knowledge from the Holland Area Beekeepers Association. We were able to take a few kids up north and give them some hands-on experience with beekeeping practices. The insight kids gained on bees and how they work to help nature thrive will not be soon forgotten!

Thank you to Tweed Baby Outfitters for supplying 80 reusable masks which we offered to kids that needed them. Many of our kids come from larger families that have stayed interconnected for the past few months but masks helped us ensure even more safety during our adventures! We also love that reusable masks allow us to be mindful of environmental sustainability while following health guidelines.

ACTS had a full summer of physical activity that created a platform for new and exciting learning opportunities. We are so grateful for those in our community that supported these opportunities by engaging with us through a variety of new and familiar ways!
